Day 1 – San José, Costa Rica
Welcome to the “rich coast,” friendly land of democracy and rare natural beauty. With naturalist guides, see exotic birds and wildlife, hike in jungle rainforests, view volcanoes, soak in hot springs and cruise through biological reserves. Relax on both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. Our transportation will be available during the day, in order to transfer you to your hotel, for a two night stay. Rooms are available for check in after 3:00 p.m. Dine at your hotel.
Day 2 – Poás Volcano, Coffee Plantation and Typical Town
During breakfast, join your tour guide for a Welcome Briefing. This morning enjoy a drive through Costa Rica’s famous coffee growing region. Next, weather permitting, visit Poás Volcano. You can safely view inside the dramatic crater from an overlook.
Lunch. Then, continue en route to Sarchi typical town, time to shop for colorful handicrafts, including painted oxcarts. Enjoy dinner.
Day 3 – Banana Plantation, Tortuguero Park
Scenic morning drive through Braulio Carrillo Park. Look for cascading waterfalls. See a banana plantation. Then, cruise through rivers and canals to the 47,000 acre Tortuguero National Park. Tortuguero is home to more than 300 species of birds. Look for toucans, parrots, kingfishers and the rare green macaw. Enjoy lunch. Afternoon visit to Tortuguero village. Enjoy a two night stay at your lodge. Dinner.
Day 4 – Tortuguero Park, Boat Safari
Cruise this morning with naturalist guides along rivers lined by raffia palm, habitat of howler and white-faced monkeys, green iguanas and tropical birds. Look for white and snowy egrets and the amazing nests of the montezuma oropendola. Then, enter the mysterious reflecting waters of Caño Palma wildlife reserve. Return to your lodge for lunch. Free time to enjoy the swimming pool and tropical flower gardens at your lodge. Next, an afternoon boat excursion into the rivers of Tortuguero Park. Look for otters, turtles and manatees. Listen to the joyful sounds of the jungle. Dinner.
Day 5 – Pineapple Tour, Fortuna
Morning cruise on Tortuguero River. Enjoy lunch. Visit a pineapple plantation. Sample Costa Rica’s famous sweet organic pineapples. Next, through scenic countryside to the San Carlos Valley for a two night stay in Fortuna. Dinner.
Day 6 – Butterfly farm, Frog Pond, Nature Hike, Hot Springs, Arenal
During the morning, visit to a Maleku Indians Village replica, a Butterfly Garden, a Frog Pond and Nature Hike. Lunch. Return to the hotel. Then, enjoy a relaxing soak in the volcanic hot springs. Weather permitting; see nearby Arenal Volcano’s softly glowing lava flow. Enjoy dinner.
Day 7 – Hanging Bridges, Central Pacific Coast
This morning enjoy an unforgettable adventure in the heart of the rainforest at the Hanging Bridges, rated one of Costa Rica’s top tourist attractions. Hike on six suspension bridges, through lush tropical rainforest canopy. Enjoy views of a waterfall and look for tropical birds. Enjoy lunch. Next, enter the Puntarenas province. Drive through the only tropical dry forest in Costa Rica. Then, to Costa Rica’s beautiful Central Pacific Coast for a two night stay. Dinner is at your resort.
Day 8 – Central Pacific Coast, Carara
During the morning, spend the morning walking the forest trails in search of the native inhabitantsof Carara National Park, including the colorful Ara Macao. Lunch. Enjoy a carefree leisurely afternoon. Time to beachcomb or swim the pristine beaches of your resort. Dinner.
Day 9 – San José and Farewell dinner
Enjoy breakfast and lunch at the resort. Afternoon return to San José. Farewell typical dinner at a View point, with typical dances.
Day 10 – San José
Your tour ends after breakfast this morning at your hotel. Our transportation will provide transfers throughout the day to the San José airport. Thanks for vacationing with us! ¡Pura Vida Costa Rica!
Accommodations in the hotels and lodges are standard rooms with two beds and private bath. Triple rooms are usually two beds. Children under 9 years old will share room with their parents, with a maximum capacity of 2 adults and 2 children per room. Children over 9 years old will be charge as adults.
Days 1, 2 and 9 – San Jose
Hotel La Condesa
The Hotel Villas and Casino La Condesa is located on Monte de la Cruz, in the Central Valley; strategically located only 30 minutes away from Juan Santamaría International Airport. Hotel & Villas La Condesa is Costa Rica’s preferred Hotel for business and pleasure.

Days 3 and 4 – Tortuguero
Explore Tortuguero, land of incredible biological diversity; where at night, from July to September, impressive Green Sea Turtles nest on the beach. A tropical sanctuary for more than 300 different species of birds and natural habitat for an amazing array of wildlife; such as monkeys, crocodiles and iguanas, among many others. Discover the lush vegetation that abounds in the midst of the Rainforest
During your stay, enjoy our pool surrounded by exotic gardens and relax in the ranchos with hammocks. Comfortable rooms with ceiling fans provide tranquil garden views. Stroll through the nature trails or take a leisurely walk on the pristine beach in front of the Lodge.
Mawamba Lodge consist of 58 comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, hot water, ceiling fans and chairs for a pleasant, relaxing evening. All the spacious and comfortable rooms are built in fine woods and are equipped with either 1 double and one single bed or three single beds. All feature a private bathroom with hot water and ceiling fans and offer tranquil garden views.
Days 5 and 6 – Arenal Volcano Area
Hotel Casa Luna Lodge
Casa Luna Lodge is located in La Fortuna area, with an impressive view of the Arenal Volcano , as well as a breathtaking view of the Cerro Chato and Cerro Perdidos. Our guests are always surrounded by a wonderful mountain range and the rich vegetation of our tropical gardens. The concept of our hotel becomes already visible in the harmony of the architecture. The whole area is rustic-colonial designed.
All of the 36 rooms of Casa Luna Lodge are furnished with two comfortable queen-size beds, Air-conditioning, Cable TV, Coffee maker, Private bathroom and Refrigerator.

Days 7 and 8 – Central Pacific Coast

The Doubletree Resort by Hilton Puntarenas is a modern, full-amenity, all-inclusive resort hotel. This Costa Rica Hilton hotel is perfectly situated alongside a beach of the Central Pacific region outside the port city of Puntarenas, Costa Rica.

Arrival and Departure Transfers
Transfers from Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) in San José, Costa Rica to your hotel will be arranged according to your flight schedule. Transfers from your hotel to the International Airport will be arranged according to your international flight schedule. For the transfer on your departure date, please note that our company will schedule your transfer in order to be at the airport at least 3 hours prior your flight departure time. These transfers are only available on dates of your trip.
The procedure at the Juan Santamaria International Airport is similar to any other airport worldwide. Just after your arrival gate, follow the signs to the Migration office in Costa Rica. Afterwards, you will find the baggage claim area, and the customs area. Just after customs, at the exit of the International terminal, our tour guide will be waiting for you with the sign of the tour. Please note that you may be not the only client arriving at the time and that may have to wait a couple of minutes for the entire group.
Customs fees and airport departure taxes are not included in the cost of your tour. The airport departure tax for Costa Rica is $ 26.- USD per person. This exit tax is collected by a tax official at the airport on your departure. Usually, U.S. dollars or the local currency can be used for payment.
Meals included in the land price are indicated in the itinerary at the end of each day by B (Breakfast), L (Lunch), D (Dinner). Coffee or tea is provided at all included meals. We have found that the hotels and restaurants are unable to make provisions in advance for special diets such as: low-salt, diabetic, kosher, etc. and clients with food allergies should note we are unable to make any guarantees concerning food preparation. Soft drinks and Alcohol beverages are not included.
